Step 1 Consultation
A thorough consultation is an important first step when deciding if a chemical peel is the right option for you. We thoroughly discuss your desired results and provide an honest, professional opinion on how best to achieve those results. We also make certain that you are a good candidate for the treatment, taking into account your skin type, age, health, medical background and other factors that could affect the safety and effectiveness of your treatment. All of our consultations are conducted with the goal of making sure our patients feel comfortable, confident and informed about chemical peels.
Step 2 Preparation
One week prior to your treatment, avoid sun exposure, electrolysis, waxing and depilatory creams. Two to three days prior and one week after treatment, discontinue Retin-A, Differin, alpha/beta hydroxyl acids and benzyl peroxide. The day of your treatment, please remove all makeup and lotion before you arrive. Men should avoid shaving the day of treatment.
Step 3 Treatment
Before your treatment, we will answer any questions that may have come up since your consultation. Every effort is made to make certain that all of your concerns are addressed and you are as comfortable as possible.
During treatment, a chemical solution is gently applied to the skin, causing it to peel and allowing new skin to surface. How long a treatment takes and the sensation felt during treatment depends on the strength of the peel.
Step 4 Recovery
Recovery time is dependent on the type of peel. Some peels have hardly any recovery time, while others require a week or more of downtime for proper healing. The recovery process and any after-care instructions will be explained at your consultation.
Step 5 Results
Results do vary, but most people report seeing a great improvement in texture, tone and clarity. Skin is more radiant and often tighter, creating a youthful appearance. During your consultation, we will thoroughly explain what results to expect. We also can customize a skin care product regimen that will help to enhance and sustain your results.
